So I’ve been talking to few of my friends and they’ve told me that most of the jobs/ internships they’ve gotten is through social media, Behance or through referrals. Many of them have also admitted to having dead LinkedIn.
I had previously thought that the platform was the go to place to make connections, and get jobs or internships, but is that not the case for design? Or was it never the case?
If it helps, I particularly am focused on visual design and fashion communication.

So I’m currently in my third year of college and I have realized that I have made no meaningful connections nor have I networked with the right people till now.

I’ve always kept to myself and I know that this is costing me as I see my friends landing their internships by networking with the faculty.
I struggle a lot with finding the courage to talk to people, moreover I don’t understand how to networking with them. Do I just go up to them and say “hi, can you help me get an internship?”😭

Ik this sounds really stupid but this is something I’m really struggling with and I’m hoping to get some advice from this community cause honestly I’m scared for myself the way things are going in the industry.
