Opening combination woes for DC

Opening combination woes for DC

I don't remember an IPL winner whose opening combination was not sorted. The weakest opening combination was maybe Shubhman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha in 2022 GT or Rohit Sharma and Quinton De Cock in 2020 MI

Both of these teams were GOATs in their respective years.

Here are the opening duos of IPL winners since 2020:

  1. 2020 MI had Rohit Sharma(332 runs) and Quinton De Cock(503 runs).
  2. 2021 CSK had prime Ruturaj Gaikwad(635 runs) and Faf du Pleasis(633 runs)
  3. 2022 GT had Shubhman Gill(483 runs) and Wriddhiman Saha(317 runs)
  4. 2023 CSK had Ruturaj Gaikwad(590 runs) and Devon Conway(672 runs)
  5. 2024 KKR had Phil Salt(435 runs with 180+ SR) and Sunil Narine(488 runs)
  6. 2025 RCB had Phil Salt(403 runs 175+ SR) and Virat Kohli(657 runs)

You see a pattern there? Now, DC never had a solid opening partnership after Prithvi Shaw/Shikhar Dhawan.

BKL Badani himself confessed ast year, ended up doing jackshit about it this year.

It is our bad luck that Harry Brook and Ben Duckett opted out of IPL altogether.

KKR is trying to poach Yashasvi Jaiswal from RR since Vaibhav Suryavanshi started getting all the limelight. Should we also put our hat in the ring for Yashasvi? Or, should we invest a couple of more years on Porel/Sahil Parakh?

There is a chance that we'll get wooden spoon today

If both LSG and Mumbai wins their matches, we'll end up at last place because their NRR is better than ours. I can't even....
