Case thrown out but still on Bond supervision.. what can I do
Howdy all, so in a nutshell, for the past year I have been on bond supervision(pre-trial probation) for a DWI, and on the 12th it had officially been thrown out before even being filled with the court. I let my bond supervision officer know and he says until he gets word from the courts, I’m still on bond supervision. I don’t know what to do…
In more detail, this what I’m lookin at.. My lawyer notified me on Monday, I guess since the case was soooo weak, the prosecution decided they weren’t going to pursue the charge. After being notified my lawyer sent me a copy of the official paperwork, signed by a magistrate, that the case has been tossed out.
I promptly informed my bond supervision officer and forwarded him the paperwork… Although he seemed happy for me, he told me until he gets notified from the courts, he can’t close my file and I must continue to report biweekly and check color code daily for UA’s, etc. He also told me the courts are pretty quick and he should receive the paperwork within a couple business days of the paperwork being signed. However I sent him the paperwork yesterday, exactly one week after it was signed.
I told my lawyer about this and they said to just hang tight and that they were working on it. I can’t help being skeptical that they aren’t doing shit, because when I was on the phone with her, she said she’d send me and my bond officer a copy of the paperwork directly. I got mine immediately after getting off the phone, but when I contacted my bond officer the following day, he said he hadn’t gotten anything.
I don’t know what to do. My lawyer says they are doing everything in their power to speed this up, but I just don’t see what could possibly be the hold up. The order was signed and made official on the 12th and it seems like they never sent anything to my bond officer. They have been made aware he’s holding me on all my bond conditions, even tho the bail bond company closed my case and the county has closed my case.
Am I supposed to just sit and wait and continue with this crap or is there something I can do? Online it says to talk to my lawyer, but she always just tells me she’s working hard to help me wrap this up, like wtf is there to work on at this point??? I don’t get it. Has anyone experienced this type of deal before and/or know what I can do? Should I just hang tight?
