Hard line...can't figure out how to connect properly

Hi all,

We bought a house with an above ground pool. The pool was supposed to be ready to go with everything we needed but alas...things don't always go to plan.

We have a hard line coming up from the ground that comes from the bottom drain of the pool. The hose is nowhere near long enough to connect to the skimmer, and is way too heavy. I know we are supposed to have a hose run from the hard line to the bottom of the skimmer but...there seems to be a hodge podge happening. And I'm not quite sure what to make of it.

We had some old barracuda hose in the shed, but it's definitely not designed for this purpose. The bit that sits inside the hard line crumbles after a week and breaks off. It's more squishy than hard plastic. Luckily, we noticed quickly this time so we didn't lose half the pool water like when the same thing happened last week.

The pipe I've connected is a temporary fix to prevent us losing more water, but could go any day now.

What hose/attachments am I meant to be using here?
