Looking for monitor recommendations for converting home studio to 5.1
Hey guys, know I'm going kinda against the grain here but I'm looking for some input on a studio monitor(s?) to grab, and any would be recommendations for converting my existing setup.
I have a lil home office/studio in my basement. Yes before anyone says anything I know basement... the low ceiling sucks, but plenty of rugs, carpeted risers for my drums, couch, etc. So the room isn't perfect but enough dampening the reflections aren't basement bad, and it's better than the living room due to room shape & size. Since I have only really used the studio for consuming media since having kids, I have been wanting to convert it to atleast a 5.1 surround setup for gaming and movies.
As for the gear I currently have and am hoping to utilize: a focusrite 18i20 gen 3 interface, a pair of krk rokit 10-3 g4 tri amp monitors, and a pair of adam t7v's with an adam t10s sub. Don't mind the pictured desktop mount, I do have stands for the adams I just needed longer cords when I took that pic.
So I would be looking for atleast a studio monitor to use as a center. Push come to shove I do have a 36" 5.1 vizio sound bar set I could use. While the form factor is nice for the desk, feel it would leave much to be desired quality wise, unless I'm mistaken? It's specifically a SB3651n-H6. Also I do have a buttkicker 2 from an old elite dangerous vr simrig I made, if any of you think that would be worth incorporating for a haptic 5.2 setup. Now I'm also not opposed to going up to a 7.1 or adding some overheads, but budget will be the deciding factor there. Like any sensible person my budget is as cheap as reasonable, but I could probably budget up to around $600 for a monitor to use as a center and or any other recommendations given my setup.
I know with active monitors you want to try to match the brand/preamp of your front left, right, & center, and adams does have the a44h. But that is more than I was looking to spend at $800.
