Help compile AMC's 'Backstory' film documentary series (2000-2005)

Help compile AMC's 'Backstory' film documentary series (2000-2005)

From 2000-2005, AMC aired a weekly series that focused on the making of Hollywood films, ranging from the 1940s to the early 2000s. Original interviews were conducted with some of the artists and stars who worked on the projects.

I've searched imdb, press releases and other sources to compile a list of as many known episodes as possible (currently 62). For those that can be found online, I've included a link. For those that are missing, I've made note and, in some cases, I've provided a note about where they might be found (physical media, etc).

My hope is to crowdsource as many of the missing episodes as possible. If you find that you have any of these or know where they can be located, please feel free to get in touch and I'd be happy to update this list (link below). Some of my personal top choices that I hope to find are Broadcast News (1987), Die Hard (1988), Speed (1994), Thelma & Louise (1991), Cast Away (2000), Rain Man (1988) and The Breakfast Club (1985).

MTV News Presents - All Eyes on Tom Cruise (06.11.2005)

Does anyone happen to have a copy of this in English? About two years ago, I stumbled upon a Russian television recording of it on a site that I can't recall. I managed to save it (re-uploaded at the link below), but the original English audio track is dubbed with Russian voiceovers, so most of the original audio very difficult or impossible to hear.

Even if someone has it in poor quality, the English audio could be synced with this good quality video so that it's watchable.

[Partially Lost] Nicolas Cage Biography television documentaries (1999, 2010)

There are two separate television documentaries about Nicolas Cage in the Biography series that have proven very difficult to find.

  1. 'Biography - Nicolas Cage: Wild at Heart' (1999). Aired twice on A&E on August 9, 1999 (photo #4) and was re-aired on at least two occasions (July 3, 2000 and June 11, 2003.) Sometime in the early 2000s, it was released on VHS as part of A&E's 'Biography' series on home video (see example in photo #3) but is long out of print and no longer available for purchase.
  2. 'Biography - Nicolas Cage' (2010). Aired on the Biography channel (screengrabs in photos #1 and #2) and covers Cage's post-1999 work, which confirms that it is not a re-release of the 1999 documentary. The only available copy is a rip from when it aired in Germany with German voiceovers, rendering much of the original audio very difficult or impossible to hear. I've uploaded that copy here for reference.

Curiously, A&E ran a print ad in 2003 promoting the Biography of Nicolas Cage with text that reads "Tuesday, October 14" (photo #5.) This could simply be another re-airing of the 1999 release, an update to the 1999 release to include Cage's work in the four years since, or a third and separate documentary from the two detailed above. My guess is that it was an update to the original 1999 release.

I've searched periodically on the Internet Archive for each of these, including dated and unsorted television recordings collections like that of Oakley Tapes, but neither of these documentaries seem to be there, nor on any other YouTube-like alternatives. I've also been checking Amazon, eBay and other resale outlets with no luck.

I'd love to find a copy of any of these, in any quality, in English. Thanks for reading.

[Partially Lost] MTV News Presents - All Eyes on Tom Cruise (06.11.2005)

In June 2005, MTV aired Sway Calloway's half-hour interview with Tom Cruise at the Warner Bros. Studios Backlot in Hollywood. This was during the promotional period for Cruise's starring role in 'War of the Worlds' and aired just weeks after his infamous "couch jump" on the Oprah Winfrey Show. The MTV special includes an overview of his film work with some behind the scenes footage, plus discussion of his relationship with Katie Holmes and his interest in Scientology.

Two years ago, I stumbled upon a Russian television recording of it on an unknown Tom Cruise fan site and managed to rip a copy (re-uploaded at the link below), but the original English audio track is dubbed with Russian voice overs rendering much of the original audio very difficult or impossible to hear. Hoping to locate another copy in any resolution/quality and combine the two sources, if necessary, for a quality version in English. Since finding this copy, I've periodically searched places like the Internet Archive and various obscure video sites, but no luck finding anything. According to another Tom Cruise fan site, it was once available on MTV's web site in 2005, but the link is long since broken.

If anyone happens to have a copy in English, please let me know. Thanks!
