Postgraduate student - how strict is attendance?

I’m starting my Master’s this September and I’ve just realised that the class I have on Fridays will clash with a holiday I’ve booked in October… I booked the holiday before I knew my timetable because I knew I’d only be on campus 2–3 days a week, and there was no way for me to know what days I’d have classes. I would only be gone for the weekend. Unfortunately, the holiday is already booked and I can’t really change it now. I’m pretty sure this particular module has an attendance requirement, so I’m wondering how strict lecturers tend to be about missing one class?

Would it be best to just be upfront with the lecturer and say I have a pre-existing commitment/holiday booked, or is missing one Friday class generally not a huge deal? I obviously don’t want to start the year off looking irresponsible, but I also don’t want to make a huge thing out of missing one class.

If anyone has experience with attendance for Master’s modules here, I’d really appreciate knowing how strict it actually is and what you’d do in this situation.

Called 112 because I was having a panic attack (smoked a joint). Will I get in trouble?

This is so silly but last night I went crazy and drank a ton of alcohol and smoked a load of weed. Got home and felt like I was dying (heart attack, genuinely). Called 112, who asked me for my name, address, identification number and age. Told them what I had done, as well as a tiny amount of cocaine I had done earlier in the day (like hours before the racing heart started. Definitely not a habit of mine, I should've told my friends no!). They offered to send an ambulance, or for me to go to the hospital on my own. Said I'd go to the hospital alone. Ended up not going, it was just a panic attack. And I knew this! It just felt so real. Just wondering now if I'll get in trouble for this? I think there are medical confidentiality laws, but I don't know what they are here in Spain. I don't even have drugs in my apartment, so l don't know if they can arrest me because I did it previously. Just feel so stupid because it was just the joint making me tweak.

Is radio silence after accepting an offer normal?

Have had no communication from them at all since March. Accepted into an MA. Not sure if there’s something I should be doing? Haven’t done the qualification check yet, but I remember reading that you didn’t have to do that immediately.

When does registration open + qualification check query

Hey guys! Got accepted into a postgrad at UCD and received the acceptance email saying I should check key dates and proceed with the qualification check. Just a bit confused because I received a firm offer, and from what I read online it doesn’t seem like the qualification check is applicable to me. Doesn’t seem to be anything on SISweb either (like a portal) that I can send it through. Saw an email regarding the qualification check, but surely we’re not just supposed to send it off to that email? Do we get our undergrad university to send it to that email? How do we even know if it applies to us?… also when I checked the key dates they were for the 2025-26 academic year, so I have no idea when registration for modules open. I figure I’ll get an email when it does, but I thought I’d double check.
