I always hear statistics like “only 1% of day traders are consistently profitable,” and that most people lose money for years before they get good at it. But after being in this group and seeing people share wins, I’m starting to wonder how true that really is.

For those of you who actively day trade:

• Has your experience matched those statistics, or do you think they’re exaggerated?
• Did you have to lose money for a long time before becoming profitable?
• How long did it realistically take before you started seeing consistent gains?

Just trying to get a realistic perspective from people who’ve actually been through it.

After months of backtesting, I’m stuck around a 50% win rate and struggling to improve risk-adjusted results.

Does anyone here have a strategy that actually works in live markets, not just backtests? I’m looking for something with a proven edge over time.
