Marathon to Ironman (EDITED)
Hey guys ! I am F29, currently training for the Marathon of Budapest this October. I have been running for 2 years. As it comes closer, my mind has been set on doing a full Ironman right after, aiming for the one in Copenhagen 2027 (August). Beginner friendly. My idea is to enjoy it, not just suffer it. Finish it with the head up.
I got 2 options.
First, let's say, in October I train until August 2027 with MyProCoach plan of 10 months to do it. Everyone tells me it's crazy to go for a full Ironman after a marathon, that I should stick to smaller distances.
Or second option, after the marathon, stick to triathlon for a year, small races and get into it, and after that, focus on special one year full ironman training after that conditioning ? Doing it in 2028 at Copenhagen, not 2027.
I am going to try already in August start swimming a little with a coach to help me with technique and to get used to it, right before Ironman training. I know how to swim, but not to that level. Cycling doesn't scare me, as I used to do it before. I am training 6 days a week now, with a 9-5 job schedule.
I would appreciate your input and let me know if I am delusional.
