I'm currently paying off credit card debt from when I was younger and mentally ill. The balance is $16500 right now. I've been consistently paying $500 a month for the past year and a half but with 22% interest that's only taking it down by $200 a month.

I own my car, have a stable job and affordable rent at my apartment. No other debts. $500 is the maximum I can afford at my salary. I've kept the card locked since I started paying it off.

Is there any way for me to pay at a lower interest rate? CIBC Visa in Alberta
