A VERY Varen morning. The storms last night broke the heatwave. Today it’s 30 degrees cooler and feels like a damp Spring morning. Perfect for a Fougère.

The Rocca may very well be the best razor in the stable. Six shaves into the blade rotation and every pairing was excellent. The last two were BBS on two passes. I even tried some ATG on the neck with zero alum feedback. Bonus points for the “singing” as it cuts. Post shave feel is great and the Vetiver witch hazel compliments Varen well. Five stars all around.

Welcome to the Tundra. We are entering the final day of our first heatwave of the year today, with temperatures near 100 the past 2 days. It was time to break out the menthol.

This was BBS perfection without trying for it. The blade, razor and lather worked together in perfect harmony. I was even able to do a few ATG touch ups on my neck, which I never do, with zero alum feedback. A fantastic way to start the day.

First shave in the blade rotation for the Rocca and it did not disappoint. Great pairing with the Personna. First use of the A&E Trastevere with the V2R vegan base. Scent and performance is right on par with their other products. The scent truly reminds me of the smell of Trastevere, which I have had the fortune to visit twice. A&E may have a solid lock as my favorite soap brand overall, with great scents and the richest, creamiest lather every time regardless of the base.

First use for this vintage Star 100. Very similar to a Gillette Tech, but there was a narrower angle for results. Required a cap-heavy angle. Little-to-no audible feedback or blade feel, yet great results and very comfortable. The Wholly Kaw struggled a bit to lather well, which is odd for their soaps. I had to go back to the tub 2-3 times for more product to build good lather. The lavender and citrus notes all made for a relaxing 15 minutes of “me time.” Great results in the end and a DFS to end the week.
