Issue: Upgraded to 24.04 LTS from 22.04 LTS, now the laptop battery indicator shows "charging" even after unplugging
Many months ago, I started my Linux journey with Pop OS 22.04. It looked nice, promised support for NVidia graphics, and seemed easy enough to set up and use. Yesterday, I bumped into this issue, except since it was before I saw this post, I just went for the "nuclear option" and decided to back up my data, wipe, and upgrade to 24.04. After a false start (using Ventoy to make my USB drive bootable resulted in the installer freezing at 35%, flashing with Rufus did the trick), my laptop's been upgraded. It was so far, so good, until I needed to charge my laptop. Even after unplugging the charging cable, the battery indicator still shows "charging" instead of the time remaining. It drains, so I can use the percentage to get a rough idea of how much time I have left, but of this affects the way the power settings work until I reboot, at which point it goes back to normal (until I plug in again).
EDIT:
If it helps with troubleshooting, when I run "sensors", it seems to think the charger is still plugged in too:
>ucsi_source_psy_USBC000:001-isa-0000
>Adapter: ISA adapter
>in0: 20.00 V (min = +5.00 V, max = +13.35 V)
>curr1: 4.50 A (max = +3.56 A)
And when rebooted, in0 goes down to 5.00V and curr1 goes down to 0.00A.
EDIT 2:
Narrowed down things a little, it only happens if I close the lid while plugged in, if I unplug before closing the lid it behaves as it should.
