Hey guys, I’m starting my section hike a week from today (July 7th). I’m starting at segment 22 (lake city) and going to Durango. What are the odds the trail will be closed over there due to fires? Can I potentially get lucky and avoid them? Right now it looks okay, but anything can change. Wondering if I should push the trip back a couple weeks. Thanks!

Please let me know what you guys think. I did not use any type of butter/oil when I made it and the meat was drained thoroughly. I added noodles when cooking which made most of the excess moisture soak up even before dehydrating, which makes me think I left it in for too long because of that.

Hey everyone, I’m going on my first backpacking trip this July. I’m curious to know if it’s generally okay to use Great Value (Walmart brand) freezer bags for cooking my food? Most of my meals I’ve dehydrated myself and would like to cook in a bag rather than the pot as much as possible.
Let me know if there’s a better bag to use for this or if those will suffice. Thank you!
Hey everyone, I’m planning a section hike starting at 22 (Lake City) and going until 28 (Durango). From what I’m seeing right now the conditions look great. It is safe to wait until my start date of July 7th or does that seem a bit late in the season this year? I’m definitely concerned about monsoon season. To those who have been around these sections during the second week of July, what should I expect and should I move things up maybe a week earlier?
Hey everyone, I’m hiking segments 22-28 starting early July. I know tick season has been terrible this year, but how likely is it to see a lot of them in that area around that time? Curious on what I can do to protect myself, I have a bit of a phobia of them and have never actually been bitten by one, even throughout all of my time hiking. Thank you in advance!
