Top of foot pain

Top of foot pain

Hi guys- I got into the boot 3 days ago and PWB as I get used to it. The vacoped is super painful on the top of my foot bone. But if I loosen it, I don’t feel secure. Any tips or extra padding you guys use?

When did you go from PWB to FWB?

I just had my post op checkup today. Almost 2 weeks post op, got my splint off and into the vacoped. I’m PWB with crutches and given the green light to start PT. I asked how long I’ll need to use the crutches for until FWB and was told it’s pretty much at my own pace but probably for about 2 more weeks And at that time is when I’ll start to move the boot 10 deg.
I know this is a step forward but almost feels like a step back for now as I’m needing crutches and previously I was using the iwalk and able to be hands free. I have a 21 month old and 4 month old at home so being hands free was so helpful.
How long did it take for you to go from PWB to FWB confidently? I don’t want to rush it, but definitely am eager to be moving with no assistance!

Also, what are some things I can start doing at home 2 weeks post op? I’m starting PT Friday so will talk to him as well but wanted to get some ideas on questions to ask!

Surgery tomorrow…

I’m getting ready for surgery tomorrow- 12 days post injury. I’m 35F with a partial tear on my left foot. Im extremely active, a PE teacher, and typically walk 12-20k steps a day. I have a 3 month old and a 20 month old at home so this has been extremely difficult.

I have a few questions for people who have already been down this road or just farther along on the road than me.

I’ve been using the iwalk already and it’s been HUGE for me as a mom but also my mental health as I am typically constantly moving.

Did anyone use the iwalk while in the splint? I’ll be in a splint for 12-14 days before my vacoped.

Did you start PT as soon as you got in the boot?

How did you make sleeping comfortable? I’ve already been using my boot and just taking a nap with my babies I wake up after 30 minutes or so and my foot is throbbing in the boot.

How much each day do I need to have my leg elevated? I assume as much as possible, but not being able to do the things for my kids that I was previously is killing me and I don’t want to just be laid up on the couch all day for weeks.

With a left leg injury, how soon were you able to drive?

Do you recommend the nerve block? This has me VERY nervous I also am not a fan at all of the heavy pain meds, and really don’t want to be foggy in front of my kids. But I’m aware I may need them the first couple days.

How soon after surgery were you doing upper body workouts? I’ve continued working out since my injury, but am very much aware of needing to keep the incision clean and not sweaty. But also know that anything to ignite blood flow and movement has shown to be beneficial!

Has anyone used red light therapy during recovery? I have a hooga panel I’ve been using already. I imagine I can’t use it with the splint but would love to when I switch to the boot.

Lastly, any supplements or even peptides I should take? I have already started vita c and collagen, but open to hear about anything else that aids in recovery.

More than a few questions I guess but would love any advice tips help from you all!

When did you get surgery?

I partial ruptured mine on June 7th, Sunday night, playing soccer. I couldn’t even get into the ortho for a consult until tomorrow, 9 days post injury. I’m really praying for surgery this week which would be 11 or 12 days after the injury and I feel like I’m already behind and just wasting time! I’m curious when everyone else was able to get in for surgery? I got my MRI last Tuesday (June 9th) but did t get results until Thursday and by the time I could call around, no one could get me in until tomorrow at the earliest.
