Aristocrat jr Sunday shave

Lovely quick shave with the junior this morning, the mystery dispenser churned out a Lord Platinum, of which I was thankful as I always get on well with them and the Derby shave stick provided a decent flowery scented lather.

3 passes - wtg xtg-x2

Pearl effect synthetic brush

Old spice asl

Rock face moisturiser

Have a great rest of the weekend lads👍

Ever-Ready E-bar set

Right I'd better post this while I have a minute😅

My first shave with this ER type and it was delightful, loaded up a new GEM blade nice and easy just like a pat 1912 and did my usual 3 passes

Loads of great audio feedback as to be expected, good solid weight to the handle, think a very pleasing mild to mid shave.

A little more blade feel than the 1912 imo and a fair bit less than the shovelhead

Bloody lovley!

Have a great weekend

Ever-Ready set

I was just like a magpie when I came across this on eBay a few days ago and snapped it right up!

I have no information on this one fellas, usually I do my homework but I've been quite busy recently looking after Mrs JCR after an operation (been cooking, cleaning, washing, cups of tea you name it heheh) shouldn't grumble but feeling a bit worn out 😅 but yeh this has been a treat to wait for and have arrive

Any info would be helpful, I think I've seen similar GEM shaped razors but I couldn't say

Cheers lads

Pal/Cella

A lovely injector shave today with the Pal Injecto-matic Regent.

Lots of blade feel and good sounds as I did my usual 3 passes

The scent of the sweet almond made me smile, very nice

Old spice to finish up

Happy days

Tech tuesday

Just had a refreshing 3 pass shave with this late 60s travel tech. Loaded with a Gillette 7o'clock green blade, Palmolive soap, Omega boar brush, silver plated bowl, Superdrug sierran breeze asl and rock face moisturiser

Wtg / xtg-x2

Lovely to take a bit of time and enjoy it

Have a good one lads👍

Merkur 11/Proraso

Fancied using the old model 11 this morning, so for a bit of a Merkur Monday Sotd I went for the Proraso red and matching splash, Silver blue blade still cutting very well of course (4), synthetic pearl brush and some Rockface moisturiser to finish up.

3 passes wtg/xtg-x2

1 tiny nick

No irritation and smooth cheeks 😎

Have a good one lads happy days🍻

Ever-Ready 1924/Tabac

Was time to dig out the shovelhead for a shave today and of course hope for the best😂

It actually was very well behaved and with the thick Tabac I had a very smooth 3 passes.

GEM blade I have forgotten the amount of uses but it's going strong

It definitely requires consistent proper angle and that can be tricky over curves and bumps but that's all part of the fun, focusing and adapting

Anyhow it's cooled down somewhat here thank God

and I can think straight again heheh

Gillette Rocket HD/TGS Pino Alpestre

Went for the menthol soap again but I took a leaf out of the smarter fellas books and waited to shave just before calling it a night

Same basic setup as my last shave but the Rocket HD was calling

3 cold water passes, wtg xtg-x2.

Fresh Lord platinum blade

And a few close up pics for good measure, because the HD is a handsome beast

Have a good one

Old type Gillette/Pino Alpestre

Inspired by u/OutlawDan86 shave last night with the menthol and the old type Gillette, as I tried and tried to sleep last night🥵 I kept thinking of that icy shave and sorting of replicated this morning.

With the Silver Blue on its 3rd and a ton of lather hehe I took my sweet time and enjoyed the cold water like you can't imagine. Wtg/xtg/atg-cheeks

Have a good one lads, be cool😎

Gillette Tech/CF Lime

Had a lovely cold water citrus shave this morning with this stuff. X-1 (1977) dated Gillette tech/Gillette Silver Blue(2)/ CF Lime/Men-ü boar brush/Silver plate bowl/4711 cologne/Rockface moisturiser.

3 passes - wtg/xtg-x2

Interesting this Gillette to be date-coded being made in England, most I've come across owned and sold were left blank - so it's nice to get an idea of it's age👍

The CF lime didn't want to lather up bizarrely, and when it did it was so thin so I checked it out and it had essentially melted with this heat into a liquid and separated heheh, that's the second time it's done that! So I stirred it up and used a pea sized amount and started again, sorted - Was wonderful.

It's currently in the fridge heheh

67 Slim/Tobs

This was one of those shaves that was completely without fault - the soap lathered well, the brush picked up the flat hairs, the blade never skipped or dulled and of course the slim adjustable on 7 was outstanding.

The fresh Silver Blue was like a hot knife through butter, 3 passes wtg xtg-x2.

Old spice to finish

Just about 30°c already

Stay cool lads😄

Consecutive Rolls shave

Shaving with the Viscount again today for 3 reasons really, I wanted to see how the razor would do after some more time honing and stropping, i wanted to use the Pino Alpestre for the menthol as it's quite humid and stuffy here and I wanted to see if shaving new short stubble would make it smoother or easier as it dragged quite a bit.

My other rolls drags on the first pass and this is no different, it takes quite a lot of focus (for me at least) to maintain the angle going wtg but after that it's quite pleasant and I did another pass xtg and then atg on the cheeks and they're baby smooth so that's a win.

The soap and splash were both cooling and calming however the lather isn't quite the Tabac/Tobs/Castle Forbes level I've been using lately and I had to add a bit more soap to the bowl at the end.

The third photo shows this thing as the evil duck looking thing that it is😂

Have a great weekend lads!

Rolls Viscount / Palmolive

Had to grab this blade on a stick when I saw it yesterday, for the price I paid and it's condition it was too good to miss.

Came complete with all the paperwork and things, even a birthday card to the original fella John 😎. The Internet says its serial number and matching ticket makes it a 1950 produced model and the added paperwork would indicate it went in for a service in 1958!

After a thorough cleaning and whatnot I gave it a few clacks and had a shave.

Well considering It could have done with a few more clacks 😄 (it was draggy on first pass) the following 2 xtg passes were very nice, and although not the closest shave in the world...I am clean shaven, not missing any body parts and lived to tell the tale

Honestly people can't give these things away, and ones with everything in order can cost as little as 10 or 15 imperial credits

So give one a go if you get a chance, this one will sit pride of place next my no.2 Rolls

Have a good one!

Schick/Tabac

Injected a fresh Personna blade for this shave, 3 smooth and efficient passes wtg/xtg and atg on the chops.

The Tabac was of course superb and went well with the 4711 afterwards I thought, very crisp/powdery scents.

The J1 Schick was produced from around 1958-64 if I remember rightly what t'internet said and still works well and looks good with its original case and blade dispenser I think.

Hope you all have a good one 👍

Tech Tuesday

Gillette fat handle (1938 -1945) tech for this morning's shave with a Dorco, Castle Forbes lime and Pinaud virgin island Bay rum.

I put pea sized amount and ended up with 2 shaves worth of lather, the CF lime just keeps giving 👌.

The blade (I forgot I even had Dorco, was at bottom of the bag) was fairly underwhelming and I needed to add another neck pass to my usual wtg xtg-x2 to get it looking ok. The over-shaving gifted me a trio of nicks in the same patch just to the side of the Adams apple - always a bit tricky there anyhow

Overall an ok shave in terms of performance, but an excellent one in terms of the scents, the razor and refreshed face afterwards so happy days

Have a good one lads!

Wilkinson sword sotd

Had myself a nice shave this morning with this lot, the sticky is a pleasure to use, has good balance and weight and decent blade feel too!

The blades themselves aren't my favourite but I'm trying to use stuff up and clear space and so a good shave from a blade you don't get on with is a win

The Wilkinson sword sensitive soap didn't want to lather up today for some reason so I gave it a big splash under hot water and that sorted it👍

Wilkinson sword sensitive soap

Omega boar brush

Aristocrat jr. / Cella

Another close yet comfortable shave I can gladly say for this one. Not quite as cushioned as yesterday's but still very good, I used a Gillette 365 on its second and Cella, 3 passes wtg xtg x2.

Enjoying the jr - it's heavier than it looks and reminds me of my heavyweight ball end tech in that regard - handle heavy, but perhaps with a bigger blade gap than that. All in all 👍

Hope you're all having a good one

Aristocrat junior/Tabac

Lovely first shave with the jr. This little thing has a good weight and although it looks as though it would be head heavy - I found it actually very well balanced. Paired with a trusty Lord Platinum I did my usual 3 passes of wtg xtg-x2 for a close and comfortable shave.

The Tabac was superb, even with cold water it lathered up a treat, good old synthetic brush and some Rock Face moisturiser

Happy days

Aristocrat Junior

All cleaned up and paired with the box and dispenser (don't think it's original that would have been a cream colored one going by Mr Razor info) but I think it all goes together really nice. Has a few marks here and there and some brassing on the head but all in all very happy with it 👍

-Soaked in hot soapy water for about an hour as I went out, then scrubbed it and didn't end up using any polish in the end, with the plating as it is and it looks shiny enough for me.

Looking forward to giving it a go in the morning!

u/jcr-1991 — 23 days ago

New addition

This rather worse-for-wear Aristocrat jr just arrived and even though the box is too far gone and bin bound, the razor itself whilst filthy seems to have good plating and looks as though a good clean and polish will bring it up to scratch.

Those who remember the collection I bought earlier this year might remember there was an almost mint condition Aristocrat jr box included so I'm very much looking forward to placing this razor when ready for that and going for a shave.

Right! Better get to it

Have a good one👍
