The Boys

My fiancé and I have three Mustangs. Two of them are geldings, pictured above. Tyr is the flaxen sorrel and my heart horse. The dun is Oliver.

Tyr is 6, from Eagle HMA. Ollie is 7 from Divide Basin.

For those of you in a boarding scenario, or with large barns, where mustangs and domestics are kept in the same pastures, do you see the mustangs treating each other differently? Tyr was born in captivity but Ollie was rounded up as a long yearling. They obviously can’t tell amongst themselves who is a mustang, but I’m just curious if the subtleties of their herd dynamics have been witnessed by any of the humans here.

Broken Treat Dispenser

Tyr needed to check for himself that I ran out of treats. I was a bad, bad human.

A while back, I met a mustang who is part of a sheriff's mounted division. Which was cool!

Of our three mustangs, the two geldings were always intended to be trail horses. But I'm toying with trying liberty training with one. Our mustang mare is intended for English show events, potentially a bit of jumping.

What do you do with your mustangs? Anything formal/fancy? I just registered one with AMBA but I'm not sure it'd matter for our goals with him.

(A picture of the two geldings as tax, haha.)

From L: Tyr (Eagle HMA) and Oliver (Divide Basin HMA).
