Is Billy still a mutant?
Hi, so I was reading Strange Tales #4 on Unlimited recently, and at the end, there is this role-play hero sheet for the characters. For Billy, it lists his origin as Magic and as Mutant while also giving him the tag X-Gene.
Now I know that back during YA, they first assumed Billy might be a mutant, and he was called one in Children's Crusade by Emma Frost. He was also on some alternate future X-Team once, I think. But it's barely mentioned even then, and ever since the Maximoff retcon, it hasn't come up at all, even though that retcon shouldn't have affected the kids since their mutant genes weren't inherited. And then Tommy had the flower to visit Krakoa during the first Hellfire Gala, so indicating he couldn't go there himself. So, I never really knew what the status was.
So, I'm not sure how canon these info sheets are or if this is indicating anything for the comics universe at all. The story itself was kind of all over the place in terms of broader continuity, and the sheets for other characters also contain some strange info, like listing Wanda's teams as the Brotherhood and the X-Men (???) instead of the Avengers. However, she isn't listed as Mutant. So, I don't want to take these info sheets as fact, but it did raise the question of what's the status. (The fan wiki still lists Billy as a mutant, but that is obviously not an indicator of canon)
Does anyone know more?
