Arriving Tuesday

Our sweet Podrick died yesterday. I am heartbroken, but grateful for the 12 years we had together. Podrick was diagnosed with kidney failure five years ago and was given only a few months to live, so we like to think of the past five years as extra time with him. It’s still not enough though. It never is.

Podrick was the sweetest, smartest, and most handsome boy. He would sleep under the covers with me every night. If I fell asleep before he got in there, he would wake me up to lift up the covers so he could get underneath. He was also a huge fan of drinking from the bathroom faucet. He would patiently sit on the sink and wait for me to turn the faucet on. In his last days, I had to lift him onto the sink, but he still loved drinking from the faucet.

Podrick used to go outside sometimes and was an amazing hunter. He would always leave us presents on the front porch. What a thoughtful guy! 😂

Podrick was such a cool and chill cat. He loved everybody from the moment he met them. He adored giving headbutts and jumping onto people’s shoulders. He also loved snuggling on my lap and sitting on his heating pad.

We have several other kitties and he was such a good brother to them all. He set a good example for the kitten we adopted last year. I am grateful they got to spend time together.

I miss my boy so much and the house seems empty, even with the other kitties and our dog. It’s just not the same.
