First hang of the year
Used a plane jane hammock that I modified with some amsteel for a Ridgeline and soft shackle loops to attach to my tree straps. Made this tarp from a kit a couple years ago and didn't even end up using it the weather was so nice. Went to a state park near Duluth MN with some friends for a long weekend camp trip with the boys. Everyone else was a tent camper so I gave them all a tour and explained my quilt system and the suspension and hang style etc etc. May have converted a few to the hammock life after they took a short lay down to test it out. I haven't gone hammock camping for a number of years and forgot how hard it is so get out in the middle of the night to pee when it's so chilly out, overnight lows were in the mid to upper 30's. My down quilts sure did the trick but the addition of a zlite foam pad was appreciated to keep me more stable in the hammock. May look for a new UQ to replace my homemade down one as it doesn't quite cover my shoulders all the way so my outter arms and shoulders always seem to get cold.
