weight loss before ttc

I want to start trying for baby #2 in 4 months and lose 25-50lbs before then, which is rapid i know. I will mostly be doing OMAD + extended fasts to get there, plus exercise and weight lifting.

I want to know if there are concerns about this. There are risk to being obese while pregnant but are there also risks of losing lots of weight before ttc? Which is worse? My concern is my nutrient stores being depleted and then not being able to regain them while pregnant wither since I had bad food aversions last time.

Any advice?

7 Day Fast Results

Completed a 7 day dirty fast and a little disappointed in the results! I kept up 5k+ steps a day and fit in 3 short strength training sessions.

Day 1-3: 260

Day 4: 256

Day 5: 252

Day 6: 251

Day 7: 252

Day 8 (after refeed): 258

Also quite bloated afterwards even though I had bone broth, then an egg, then a small and later a medium low-carb meal. Also slacked on electrolytes the first couple days which led to some weakness and killer leg cramps in the night.

Still happy I did it, the mental discipline was a huge benefit to me, and Getting to 252 for the first time in 2 years was very motivating, even if it was just from losing water weight and whatnot.

Now I’ll switch to omad for a week or two. Trying to get to 225 by September!

Joint pain from fasting?

I just completed a 7 day fast and the last 3ish days my knees, lower back, and right shoulder hurt. It could be a total fluke but I was wondering if anyone was aware of fasting causing joint pain?

I have had the knee and back pain before, they come and go, but not often or at the same time. I have psoriasis and part of me has wondered if it is psoriatic arthritis, in which case I wonder if that’s something fasting could trigger?

I usually see people saying it lowers their inflammation and they’re in less pain while fasting so this is the opposite of what i expected.

thanks

4/7 days done

Over halfway through my fast. 4lbs down.

I do notice I am a bit fatigued, though still able to get some walking in. My stomach growls but I wouldn’t say it hurts or is uncomfortable. I miss eating, especially when I make my husband dinner lol.

Today has been easier than the past few days, the worst being day 2 in terms of hunger and lightheadedness. I almost wish I could go past 7 days, but there are life events I am breaking the fast for, and then maybe I’ll do a 10-day fast after that.

Socializing is the biggest hurdle, I’d say. Not only am I afraid to faint or sh*t myself when I go out, but I don’t want to explain my fast to anyone.

No weight loss

3 1/2 days into a fast and I haven’t lost any weight. I walk 5-10k steps a day, have electrolytes but ‘as needed’ so maybe not the ideal amount. I did also have a coke zero and some zevias. Could it be those?

Feels so demoralizing to not eat for this long and feel no progress lol, but I’m still aiming for 7 days.

Satisfying

Day #2 of my 7-10 day fast.

Not necessary to track these calories but it sure makes me feel good.

How to not be a slob

Not weightloss advice per say, but related to it.

I feel like a slob and like I won’t be able to get around it until I have lost the weight.

Having grown up overweight, I never bothered to learn how to do my hair or make up or dress well. I’ve procrastinated it thinking I’d do it when I lost the weight, and I’m in my late 20s now and making weight loss progress and realizing I want to feel put together already.

I feel gross wearing old baggy clothes, not having a skincare routine, doing the same one hairstyle (messy bun) every day. My house is a mess and i was bordering on hoarder until recently. It all feels tied together.

So what I’m asking is for advice on ways to feel ‘put together.’ What are good habits that make one feel clean and confident and put them in a good headspace to make healthier choices.

Starting a 7 day fast

Longest I’ve gone is 5 days - hoping to get to 7 this time! Ate way too many carbs before starting this fast so the transition might not be easy, but I’m quite determined.

Feel free to join me 💪🏼

Day 1: SW: 260lbs. 8k steps.

Day 2: Still 260lbs but look less bloated.

Day 3:

Day 4:

Day 5:

Day 6:

Day 7:

If you were a binge eater, how has fasting affected you? Is there a specific type of fast that you like best? Has it healed your relationship with food?

I’ve been stuck in a restrict & binge cycle for over a decade. I find fasting easier than trying to track calories and eat in a deficit, but I also think rolling fasts / OMAD just feed binge eating habits for me.

I’d love to hear other people’s experiences and if/how you got over it.

This is my progress over the past 6 months.

The parts I highlighted in black are from when i did extended fasts (3-5 days) which account for most of my weight loss. The rest of the time I’ve been doing IF and sometimes ADF but it never seems to stick, especially the last two months where you see it just fluctuates like crazy.

So, I guess this is my sign to stick to longer fasts, I’ll just have to figure out how to work them into my cycle.

I’d like to pick up the pace and lose another 30-50 by September, so i’m open to advice if you have any!
