Thermal shutdown..?
So I'm fairly satisfied with my new beast, but I'm facing some weird issues.
I'm running CachyOS b/c fuck Windows. I can run pretty intense LLMs that peg the memory and GPU at 100% no problem, but when running some games (and in mixed CPU/GPU synthetic stress tests) the system just suddenly shuts down. I thought it was overheating, but I'm not sure that's the case, or at least it's not the die itself what's overheating. I've been monitoring temps and they can go as high as 95 °C with no (immediate) ill effects, but the system might shutdown at temperatures as low as 82 °C.
I contacted Asus and they won't help me until I've completed their diagnostics which are only available under Windows (not even a UEFI app like Dell, Lenovo and many others use) so it'll be a while until I can comply with that.
I must make clear that I have the TDP maxed at 80 W and the fans running at 100%, and I can tell by the noise and exhaust air that it's running pretty much as intended.
Have you guys experienced something like this? Do you have any solutions or suggestions?
