Contracted Security at SRQ

I’m an airline pilot and I flew out of SRQ (Sarasota FL) and witnessed a contracted security checkpoint for the first time.

Grey shirts, not TSA agents. Some of my crew said this was also a practice at SFO.

What’s up with that? I didn’t know that was a thing or allowed.

First time opening pool and no suction

Just bought a home with a pool.

Removed the gizmos and jet covers, positioned the valves as they’re pictured in the photo, filled pump chamber up until it no longer drained through the inlet pipes, turned on the pump and at first lots of water moved into the pump chamber, then it turns to a trickle, then stops.

My wife was watching the skimmers and said she didn’t see any evidence of water draining.

No clear visual sign of clogs.

Do I have the valves wrong? Is there a clog somewhere?

Thanks in advance

Odd occurrence I can only describe as pressure washer “locking up”

Bought a 3000 psi craftsman for $50, guy used it once years ago and wouldn’t start, cleaned the carb and it fired right up.

Used it once or twice, then I go to start it and the starting cable is almost impossible to pull. Super hard to get it moving, eventually I can get it turning and I start it up.

Today I’m using it and the washer quits after about 30 mins of use (no problems at all while it’s running) and I go pull the starting cable and it’s the same thing. Super stiff feeling, it’s hard to budge, pull it through about 5-10 times and it goes back to normal, fire it up and use it another half hour and it shuts down no issues.

Oil is full, no other problems with it starting or running. Are there any issues with these things seizing up? Maybe it’s an issue with the water pump seizing and bogging the cylinder down with it?

May 3, 2026 - New scanners are malfunctioning and causing huge lines and complete confusion getting to E gates.

Line extends back through the duty free and then back towards security, past signs marking 7-18 min walking time.

Beware

Edit:

This is “passport control” LEAVING FCO to other countries, also depends on your nationality. EU citizens got to pass the worst of the line, as a US citizen we had to sit in the huge line. This is post security, and for E gates

As another has said, ITA employees are walking up and down the line to collect passengers for flights leaving soon.

We arrived at the airport at 8 am, and I had the wrong date originally, it was on the 3rd.
