Personally, for me, the most terrifying part was the “no no no NO NO DONT DO THAT” scene. Not because of Inde’s performance (which is excellent) but because of the character Bear’s reaction. When Nikki asks him dead-eyed “then why does it matter?” I almost feel like that was the real Nikki screaming for help, asking for Bear to shut this whole thing down because it DOES matter, and he HAS to have realized by now that her love only exists because of the wish he made. But then he says, “doesn’t matter to me.” And he is basically saying it doesnt matter to him that he’s stripped her of her autonomy, that her feelings only exist because of this wish, that he doesn’t care if this is real or not. I think it’s fitting that it hard cuts to him basically using her like a fleshlight, because in the end thats all she really is to him. Chills.
