Yet Another Irish Itinerary
Hey all, we're gearing up for another visit to Ireland this September and I'd love a quick gut check. We've visited before and did a lot of driving clockwise from Dublin down around the southern part of the country. This time we'll be going counterclockwise and seeing some of the northern scenery.
Day 1: Arrive in Dublin early morning, drive to Belfast. Afternoon and overnight in Belfast.
Day 2: Drive to Bushmills. Giant's Causeway hike midday, Bushmills tour afternoon. Overnight in Portballintrae.
Day 3: Drive to Errigal and hike. This is going to be our longest day by far, and while it won't be relaxing and we're at the mercy of the weather, it's something we hope to fit in along our drive. After our hike, we'll drive to Sligo for the evening.
Day 4: Relaxed morning in Sligo area. Drive to Galway in the afternoon.
Day 5: Galway. Explore the city, check out some music and food
Day 7: Drive to Doolin, catch an AM ferry to Inis Oirr for a daydrip to the Aran Isles.
Day 8: Doolin (non-negotiable, we're visiting friends for a wedding)
Day 9: Drive back to Dublin midday, stay in Howth area.
Day 10: Flight home
It's quite a bit of moving around, especially the first half. We're two mobile adults, no children, and pack light. We're used to moving around frequently when traveling and like to fit in as much as we reasonably can without being frantic. If there's anything we should try to fit in along this general route or glaring issues with our preliminary itinerary, please share!
