This deck is 50 years old
This deck that I added a second-story patio and metal roof was built in the 1970s . It’s about 50 years old . The thing that caught my eye was that when I went under the deck, the 2x6 beams were not notched to the 4x4 posts. They were all just nailed to them . Was this normal practice back then, or did they just forget to notch them? Not even carriage bolts. Just nailed with 4 nails. Last picture is the before .
