R4P Front HV connector
I know cablegate is mostly focused on the rear HV connector. However, the front HV connector on the R4P specifically can also be an issue. We own a late 2024 RAV4 Prime which is not covered by any of the recalls. I just got some work done on my car and asked the tech to make some pictures of the front connectors. There is visible corrosion on the shielding, which has me concerned. We don't have any symptoms yet. Located in Canada and only about 15000 KM.
As far as I can see:
- Toyota will not do anything because we are not part of the recall group
- Installing cable warden is not an option because wrapping something already corroded will just make it worse
- Spraying it with a rust inhibitor will probably not be effective at this stage and may actually cause an issue if Toyota will, at some point in the future, maybe extend the warranty to our group of vehicles (probably unlikely because this only affects primes and PHEVs, which is a much smaller group).
What would you do if you were me? Thank you.
