Early planning for my dwarf pomegranate

I have this dwarf pomegranate I've been growing from a cutting a couple of years now. It puts out charming red flowers. I'm planning on letting it grow for another three to five years before any serious styling attempt. But in the meantime, I wonder about the split trunks that split yet again a few inches above the ground. Would I be helping myself by chopping one of the trunks now? Maybe the left center one? Or should I just let it grow unmolested until it's time to get serious? thnx/jd
