S7 E8 Space Race - Refreshing episode. Was kind of like a video game.

The episode felt like I was playing a video game. Fun episode.

Too bad there was cheating. Shame that Warrin and Carter couldn't win first place, but at least in the end Warrin still lands a job.

Warrick: Major Carter. If you are to be my co-pilot, you'll need to know how the ship works.

Carter: What is this?

Warrick: A complete operations manual of the Sebrus. I had it translated for you.

Carter: Thank you.

O'Neill: That's not our language.

Carter: It's mine, sir.

O'Neill: Right.

At some point, Warrick needs to escort Teal'c, Dr. Jackson, and O'Neill to some capital building.

O'Neill asks Teal'c if he's joining. Teal'c makes believe that Carter has requested that Teal'c stay to help her. Carter asks "I did?" Teal'c says "indeed. I do not wish to disappoint Major Carter," thereby getting out of having to go to some presumably boring building/meeting.

Teal'c: I am in your debt Major Carter.

Carter: Indeed.

This was a great moment at the end, when they arrest the guy:

Eamon: Has it occurred to you that maybe the reason you have been passed over so many times is not because you're a human, but because you're a moron?

What a cheater. I feel like he got what he asked for. Causing a bunch of chaos and destruction.

S6 E17 Disclosure - "I'll say this general, well played." - pleasantly surprised by this episode.

I thought it was an interesting episode.

The US disclosing the Stargate program to other governments. Big step.

Kinsey wanting to take over, over course.

The Chinese ambassador wanting to go back and tell his government to tell the people about it.

Hammond with the ace up his sleeve: calling in Thor. That was great.

Some fun dialogue:

Kinsey: Commander Thor, my name is—

Thor: Senator Kinsey. O'Neill suggested I send you to a distant planet for your actions here. But I am reasonably certain his statement was in jest.

Kinsey: (raises his finger) I'm sure it was, Commander...

Thor: (raises his finger) Supreme Commander.

Thor: It is the opinion of the Asgard high council that Stargate Command should be left in the very capable hands of General Hammond and his team...and while our continued friendship with Earth is not contingent on that, it is preferred.

The other governments giving immediate support upon being visited by Thor, but the Chinese ambassador saying that he's still hesitant but believes that his government will agree that for now the Stargate is in the right hands. Yeah yeah, admit it ambassador, you were just as impressed as the others 😄

S6 E4 - Frozen - Cool episode... 🙄😅 Pun not intended

Overall pretty interesting in showing us something fresh tied into story lore: a human from the past, perhaps an ancient.

Sad that she passed away in the end. Nice of her to heal almost everyone, even at her own expense. I wonder why she did that. Maybe that she simply felt responsible?

There was a funny scene at the beginning when O'Neill and Teal'c get to the base:

O'Neill: Doh!

Teal'c: What is it Oneill?

O'Neil: I forgot to tape the Simpsons... It's important to me.

The expression on Teal'c's face. 😆

S5 E19 Menace - Reese, I don't want you to go. "Why not?" I want to be your friend. "I never had a friend." I'll be your friend. 🥲😢

So at last we learn the origin of the replicators.

I thought this was a pretty great episode. Done well. And hits hard emotionally.

That part near the end where Daniel is trying to convince Reese to stay, at first the music was kind of scary as she was saying how people are afraid of her, but right when Daniel started asking her to stay, the music changed to a calm tone. Nicely done with the music tempo.

Not gonna lie, this bit of dialogue brought a tear to my eyes:

Daniel: Reese, I don't want you to go.

Reese: Why not?

Daniel: I want to be your friend.

Reese, after a pause: I never had a friend.

Daniel: I'll be your friend.

🥲😢

Touching moment but also sad, because we know that Daniel is actually trying to shut her down because she can be dangerous.

I was going to share a funny bit of dialogue from the episode, but this didn't really feel like the right time/place for the humor.

Though, on a different note, cool to see Hammond out of official Hammond uniform and in combat :)

S5 E18 - Warrior. 😕

This one felt bittersweet.

>!It was hopeful that the Jaffa were seemingly being lead to eventual freedom, but that scene where Teal'c is seemingly beaten by K'tano who then whispers in his ear that he really is Imhotep the whole time, oof, that hurt. Teal'c was so upset, that even seemingly defeated he stabbed Imhotep right in the heart. Maybe it's meant to signify the heartbreak Teal'c felt being paid out to Imhotep's own heart.!<

>!Sweet that Teal'c was victorious, but bitter that the whole rebellion was built by a faker and that Teal'c and Bra'tac feel hope and then betrayal.!<

S5 E11 Desperate Measures. "Ninjas" 😄

Interesting episode. But aside from the story of the episode, nice amount of fun dialogue going on.

Guy with the cap: are you the cops?

Jack: Colonel Jack O'Neill

Cap guy: I was in Nam.

Jack: Oh yeah, what company?

Cap Guy: Vacation. A long time ago. 😅

Jack: A friend of mine disappeared from here around Saturday morning. Women, around 5'9" blonde.

Cap guy: you wouldn't believe me if I told you.

Jack: Why not?

Cap guy: I'm just a crazy old guy with a shopping cart full of cans.

Jack: I'm just a cynical air force guy with a closet full of National geographics.

Cap guy gets all serious. "Can I have em?"

Jack: What do you know?

😆😆😆

Cap guy: She was feisty, put up a fight.

Jack: With whom?

Cap guy: Ninjas. Three or four. Happened fast. They pulled up in a white van, grabbed her.

I've been telling the police about ninjas for years. You think they listen?

Jack: Right. Okay. Thanks.

Cap guy: You're gonna bring me them magazines, right?

Jack: You bet.

😄

And Jack actually brings him the magazines. Which was awesome.

Interesting how Jack let Maybourne go. Although he's a fugitive, he helped Jack rescue Carter, so I guess he gets to go.

Jack:

Uh, why don't you stay here and watch these guys?

Maybourne: That's fine.

Jack: You'll be here when I get back, right?

Maybourne: Oh yes Jack.

Haha. Yeah, right.

S5 E10 2001 - O'Neill says "O'Neil. 2 Ls", but he's holding up 3 fingers.

Ah, the Aschen again. Interesting way to bring them back when the coordinates were supposed to be off limits.

It was just interesting to me that the writers wanted SG1 to experience the reason why they went through the efforts to send a note back through time warning against going to this planet.

At the end of the episode, when Kinsey says that there will be an investigation, O'Neill says that his name has 2 Ls, but he's holding up 3 fingers. It's around 42:24 of the episode.

Edit: I thought maybe the three fingers was a mistake because he said "2 Ls," but as many pointed out, O'Neill was giving Kinsey the finger. Read between the lines moment. Ha!! Great writing.

S5 E7 Beast of Burden - Ka'Nay :)

Ka'Nay = friend.

Chaka. It's been awhile. Remember when Daniel first met him? Brings me back. Heartwarming to see him again, though if only it had been under better circumstances. It was sad in the beginning with Chaka taking that treat he thought was kindly left for him by Daniel, but then suddenly being attacked and captured :(

That ending, with Chaka wanting to stay and lead the Unas to fight for freedom. Wow. Good stuff.

This was a good side episode. Taking a break from the main story, and bringing back a character from the past.

S5 E6 Rite of Passage - okay episode, but it was the ending that I was impressed with

I felt that the episode was okay. But I thought that the ending was great.

I was impressed that Hammond allowed Niirti, a Goa'uld system lord, to go free after she saved Cassandra. That was after all part of the deal, but still. I felt proud in a way. Hammond really showed honor and integrity there. Even Niirti was impressed, telling O'Neill that she wouldn't have let him go had the roles been reversed.

S5 E2 Threshold

This was interesting, getting some insight into Teal'c's past, and how he got to where he got.

Terrible to feel that he was forced to betray his friend and destroy the village he had sent him to, fearing what Apophis would do if he found out that Teal'c had helped his friend escape.

The end was nice:

Teal'c: "I choose freedom"

S5 E1 Enemies - please, not those again

Replicators again. Scary.

It's been so long since I've seen this episode, and it got me for a moment when Tealc tricked O'Neill and betrayed him. That was a surprise. When Teal'c said that some Jaffa helped him, I was thinking how nice of them and that I'm sure Hammond will gladly help them relocate. Next thing I know, Teal'c is betraying O'Neill. 😅

Cool way to get back to their galaxy, via replicators helping them. Not helping them out of generosity. Really just going about their own plans, but either way still cool for replicators to be the solution to being stranded in a different galaxy. The ship traveling at 800 times its previous max speed. That was pretty cool. You know, replicators are scary, but they're kinda cool. But pretty scary. But still kinda cool. And also scary. Mostly scary.

That ending scene with replicators crawling over Apophis's personal shield. He was so angry and frustrated.

S4 E22 Exodus - cool lighting effect near the end of the episode

It's a very brief scene. Like a second. But I thought it was unique.

When the ship suddenly exits hyperspace and then Apophis's ship follows, right when Apophis's ship exits hyperspace, instead of the typical hyperspace exit shimmering glow effect, there's a dark colored, kind of reddish/purplish/black shimmering glow effect, I guess indicating either the strangeness of their unexpected 4 million light year travel due to the supernova hitting the ship mid light travel, or maybe indicating the strangeness of their location.

I thought it was cool of the writers to do that. Pretty cool to spend time and effort and thought into an unexpected situation with exiting light speed having an unexpected lighting effect.

I tried to find that final scene to post it here, but couldn't find it.

Edit: u/00Canuck awesomely posted the exact scene below.

S4 E21 Double Jeopardy - Ah, they meet again

Comtraya!

The android SG1 team. It's been awhile.

There was a slight giveaway in the beginning of the episode that "SG-1" was the cloned team. I was wondering why Teal'c was carrying a gun and not his staff weapon, but although it was strange, I just figured maybe he decided to.

When Jackson gets hit by that staff weapon shot, at first it's a shocking moment, but then when his head rolls and you see the circuitry you realize who the team really is.

Nice victory moment for Teal'c, getting rid of Cronus: "for our father."

That conversation at the end, when alternate O'Neill asks O'Neill about his team, that's an interesting thing to think about. Yes, the original SG1 is the original, but he's asking if the android copies were viewed as nothing.

Android O'Neill: Carter and Teal'c?

O'Neill: Yours don't look so good. The real ones are okay.

Android O'Neill: Are we still so far from real to you?

O'Neill: No, I guess not.

Android O'Neill: Then I believe we are done.

S4 E20 Entity - Wow, not quite sure what to say.

It's been ages since I've seen this episode. Boy does it hit hard. This episode can give you chills.

An alien machine/program/technological entity taking over Carter, trying to survive.

This dialogue from the entity was striking:

"This one is important. For this reason this one was chosen. You will not terminate this one in order to destroy me. I cannot be removed from this mind without terminating. You will not terminate this one. None of you will. Therefore I will survive."

When it gave up itself in order to let Carter live, by transferring Carter's mind to the computers, after O'Neill threatened to send more damaging malps to its home world, that was something else. I felt bad for it.

Obviously it's good that Carter made it out unscathed, but the episode feels like it ends on a bittersweet note.

S4 E18 The Light - That moment with Tealc

When Loran offers Tealc a toy gun, Tealc isn't interested, saying that also human children seem to be interested in fake weapons. Loran tells Tealc to keep it as a birthday present. When Tealc realizes that Loran is being sincere, Tealc has this genuinely peaceful/touched expression and he accepts the toy. It's not often that we see Tealc with such an expression.

S4 E16 - 2010 - Great Episode

O'Neill retired. Gets to fish at his lake of no fish :)

And Kinsey is president in this alternate timeline. He did say he would be running for president, so it's cool that the writers gave him the role.

Sad for Carter, with what the Aschen did, reducing the rate of growth of the human population.

That scene in Cheyenne Mountain with the tour was kinda funny, the tour guide saying that SG1 was not her favorite, and saying that the gate room was originally called the embarkation room. Nonsense.

Then Walter walking in on SG1. O'Neill telling him to trust them and that he'll return the weapons by Thursday and will tell Walter everything 😂

There was a creative use of the same line, when Carter wanted to get help from Joe (her husband) and I think it was O'Neill who said that if she does this, there's no going back, and Daniel says that if they don't do it there's also no going back.

That scene where they're trying to run that note through to the Stargate and the weapons are firing, that was done well. Kinda sad too.

I think this was a pretty great episode. A very good non-main-story one.

S4 E10 Beneath the Surface

The team having had their memories altered/forgotten.

Carter: how do you stay so calm?

O'Neill: I think in another life I handled dangerous explosives.

Ha!!

The ending was classic O'Neill/Carter, where they want to discuss O'Neill's feelings for Carter, which he himself mentioned when his memory was altered, yet they know it's better left unsaid, so there's a few seconds of silence, yet that silence is saying alot.

In what way has Chinese language influenced your thinking?

I've found that occasionally my English language patterns take on Chinese language patterns.

I had an interesting one recently. A friend of mine asked me how I'm doing. I asked him back what he had for breakfast.

It made me think of "你吃了吗?" You're not actually wanting to know what the person has eaten. It's like saying "how are you?" Made me laugh when I realized that maybe the reason my mind jumped to asking my friend about what he ate, rather than just asking how he is, is that maybe it was 你吃了吗 influencing my English.
