3 new Pinback live shows from Chicago have been added to the Aadam Jacobs Collection

3 new Pinback live shows from Chicago have been added to the Aadam Jacobs Collection in the last 2 weeks! The 2006 Hideout Block party show is pretty wild. It was a 3 day festival featuring only Touch & Go record label bands. Rob's amp stops working so they put a Marshall in there and he comments a lot about it i the banter. It sucks that he was having problems, but the show is pretty good anyway.

They also added a Three Mile Pilot show from the same festival, and Calexico's set from that same day is pretty darn good too.

I updated my fansite to include being able to sort shows from newest added to archive.org so it will be easier to find the shows you haven't heard yet. I welcome your feedback on the site, and I'm actively working to build native iOS and Android apps and hopefully they'll be out in the next week or two.

More live Calexico from the Aadam Jacobs Collection

The good folks who are digitizing the 10,000+ Aadam Jacobs Collection live shows with wildly good soundboard feeds have added another great Calexico show, this time from the 2006 Hideout Block Party. This was the 10th anniversary of this music festival, and I think all the bands that played were Touch & Go artists. So the same day Calexico played, so did Pinback, Three Mile Pilot, and Quasi.

The sound quality on >95% of these shows in the collection is off the charts good, and I think it's just such a special collection of music because of that, but also the sheer amount of indie rock that's right up my alley, too.

The 2006 festival is even more unreal than I thought, having found this old Gapers Block website that talks about the lineup. Not all these sets are uploaded yet, but I would be shocked if Mr. Jacobs didn't tape them all. Still to come: Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, Man…Or Astroman?, Black Heart Procession, and more.

10 Live Pinback shows from Chicago (and more) - Aadam Jacobs Collection

Greetings, fellow music nerds! I stumbled across the Aadam Jacobs Collection of music a few months ago. He is a prolific live music taper, and over the last 40 years he's taped 10,000+ live shows (mostly in Chicago). So far a team has digitized about 3000 shows and uploaded them to the LIve Music Archive. One of the coolest things is that many of these shows are ridiculously good-sounding soundboard feeds. There's a ton of indie rock, including 10 Pinback shows from 2002-2014 (so far). There are also some Heavy Vegetable, Rob Crow's Gloomy Place, & Thingy shows in there.

While I love the LMA, I detest using it to try to find and listen to music, and so I built my own fansite dedicated to this music where you can listen, discover, and fav bands/shows/etc.

There's a ton of other amazing indie rock in the collection so far from a bunch of bands I love like Rogue Wave, Maritime, Calexico, Ben Folds Five (and solo Ben Folds), Spoon, The Long Winters, and more.

Live Calexico recordings from Chicago

There's this really cool set of live concert recordings from Chicago that are coming out from this legendary taper named Aadam Jacobs. He recorded 10,000+ live shows mostly in Chicago from the 80s through about 2019. There are a few great and high-quality Calexico recordings from 2003-2004 that y'all might like to hear. I made a website to help make it easier to listen to this music called Second City Streamer.

Take a listen and let me know what you think! I love this era of Calexico's music, Feast of Wire is when I really started to listen and see them live (and I still do both of those things).
