"myself and the boy @samtompkinsuk needed to make some money to pay for a music video we were already half way through filming... so when we were on a quick break between takes, we headed out to the streets of Brighton for a couple with a mic and a guitar
we never expected the response we got that day

Boomtown Fair 2026 - The Review To play and be creative is the essence of being human
"Ren produces one of the performances of my weekend, filling an enormous stage with theatrical ideas, battling a cartoon version of himself and at one point appearing tied to a chair while confronting his mental-health demons. His take on “Bitter Sweet Symphony” is something else. Photographer Phil reckons Ren probably has a few Pink Floyd albums at home with his guitar playing offering wafts of Dave Gilmour. I think of Eminem. Whatever the influences, he puts on a show."
REN X CHRIS WEBBY Went COMPLETELY OFF THE RAILS! | “Mason Jar” Reaction & Analysis
"In today’s reaction and lyrical analysis, I’m diving into “Mason Jar” by Inpatient, Ren and Chris Webby, from the Asylum album. Released on 22 July 2026, the track combines Chris Webby’s rapid-fire bars and outrageous imagery with Ren’s irreverent wordplay, surreal humour and increasingly chaotic performance.
What initially sounds like pure comedic debauchery becomes something considerably more interesting when you examine the writing. From dense internal rhyming and ridiculous pop-culture references to Ren’s references to Sick Boi, the escalating hallucinatory imagery and the wonderfully absurd recurring joke surrounding JP and the titular mason jar, there is a remarkable amount of craft hiding beneath the apparent chaos.
As always, this is more than a reaction. We’re breaking down the lyrics, rhyme schemes, delivery, cadence, wordplay, references, vocal performance and the broader artistic choices that make this collaboration work.
I’d love to know what YOU caught in “Mason Jar” that I missed. Was there a bar, reference or moment that made you stop and rewind?

Ren Just Changed How He Hears This Song 🤯🔥
"Aaron is BACK on the channel! 🎶🔥
This time, I wanted to introduce him to another side of Ren's artistry—his smooth, soulful singing style. And after watching his reaction to "Back on 74 / Message in a Bottle (Retake)", I think it's safe to say Aaron REALLY enjoyed this side of Ren. 😂
If you haven't heard Ren - Back on 74/Message in a Bottle (retake) yet please do so on his channel first: • Ren - Back on 74 / Message In A Bottle (Li...
The joy on Aaron's face throughout this first-time listen says it all. There's something so infectious about watching someone discover an artist for the very first time, especially when they experience a side of that artist they weren't expecting.
Aaron also brought an interesting perspective to this reaction. He's heard the original version of "Message in a Bottle" by The Police countless times, but he admitted that Ren's vulnerable interpretation was the first time he really stopped and paid attention to the lyrics.
And THAT is one of the things I love most about Ren.
He doesn't simply perform a song; he has a way of making you hear it differently.
Ren's smooth vocals, emotional delivery, and unique interpretation completely pulled Aaron into the performance, and watching his reaction was an absolute joy.
In this reaction, we talk about Ren's vocal style, his ability to reinterpret familiar music, and how vulnerability can completely change the way we experience a song we've heard a hundred times before.

Have you ever heard a familiar song completely differently because of another artist's interpretation?"

"Today I'm puttin' on my big boy pants and giving Inpatient's "Tarantula" a proper reaction. I steered clear of this one when it premiered, but have since given it a chance. And man, am I ever glad I did."

Can You Relate? Therapist Reacts to Ren & Chris Webby - Me & My Monster
Rosalie Elliott:
"Every single song of the #Asylum is absolutely profound. We've gone from soulful and poetic, to hilarious and entertaining while still addressing relevant topics to diving deep into the human psyche and our core fears. Let's talk about childhood memories and that struggle of trying to figure out which monsters we're fighting inandwhich monsters are part of us."
