Be honest. How bad is it?

I don’t know how this happened. I had no acute injury and now I’m being told that I have such bad tears in my ligaments. I’m a school custodian and I’m trying so hard to get through the days because my knee feels so unstable and I’m always worried about falling or my ligaments tearing completely. I just want to go home and cry because of the stress of it all.

Did anyone here injure their knee from wear and tear vs acute injury?

Did anyone here tear their acl and or mcl without realizing it? I started experiencing a weird catching and pressure feeling on my knee about 3 weeks ago. I had some swelling and pain but nothing crazy. My ortho did some manual tests and thought it was a meniscus tear and tbh a lot of the symptoms did line up. I finally got my mri last week and it turns out that I have a grade 2 sprain of my mcl and acl.

I was and still a completely baffled. I didn’t have any acute injury that I know of which the mri says this is, and I’m not an athlete or anything like that. My job is physical but it’s not fast paced or anything like that. I’ve had problems with my gait for years so maybe that could be it? Did anyone tear it in a non traumatic way?

grade 2 sprain of acl and mcl - no acute injury - is this common?

How bad is the swelling in my left knee?

I think that the swelling has been going down since I started elevating my leg. It’s not as visibly noticeable as it was a few days ago but it still feels really tight and unstable. There is a little bit of pain but not much. Is this normal or maybe a sign of something more serious? Can such minimal swelling cause so much stiffness and catching?

Grade 2 mcl sprain- can poor biomechanics be to blame?

I’ve been having trouble with pain and a catching sensation on the inside of my knee for a few weeks now. I went and got an mri and it turns out that I have a grade 2 sprain in my mcl. There was no acute injury that I can recall and the pain is minimal. The only thing that I think could have caused it is poor biomechanics. I have an anterior pelvic tilt which destroys my ability to internally rotate at the hip so I resort to things like overpronation and knee valgus to get the rotation I can’t get at the hip. I’m trying to work on it in pt but it’s been very difficult so far.

It’s more worrying that this could be the cause since it’s currently built into the way I move so I’m constantly doing more and more damage. It’s not like I can avoid a sporting activity to avoid aggravating it and let it heal on its own. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Can you describe what your knee feels like when it catches?

About 3 weeks ago I started getting sensation of something catching on my medial knee. I looked it up and the first result said that it’s one of the main symptoms of a meniscus tear. I decided to get an mri and it showed no meniscus damage but it did show a grade 2 mcl tear. I don’t know if that’s what’s causing my symptoms but I have an appointment with my ortho so we’ll see.

I’ve read up on what it feels like for the knee to catch and it doesn’t really line up with what I’m feeling. From what I read people experience pain and a hard locking feeling when this happens to them. I experience no pain or locking when it happens. It feels more like something suddenly catches in my inner knee and it makes it feel super awkward to walk. It’s hard to describe, but I had a loose body in my knee removed 10 years ago and this felt a lot like this but the mri showed no loose bodies. Has anyone experienced this awkward catching sensation with no pain or locking? Just an awkward sensation that something suddenly gets stuck but goes away after a few minutes?

I got my mri results back abd it seems REALLY bad

I don’t understand most of what is being said here but it seems really bad. I’m hoping that these are just false positives because these seem like enormous amounts of damage. What do you guys think?

Knee suddenly catches when walking - meniscus injury?

Has anyone else experienced this? Sometimes when I’m walking I get a sudden sensation of something catching in my knee and then for a few minutes after it’ll feel like something is stuck in that same spot. It never hurts when it happens but it does make it hard to walk because I feel like my leg wants to give out. After a few minutes the knee will go back to normal until it happens again. Does this sound like loose bodies to you? I’ve heard that they can cause symptoms like this but I still have full range of motion and don’t get hard locks of the knee.

How long can I expect to be off of work with a loose body removal?

I got my mri today and will schedule with my ortho tomorrow. I’m hoping that it’s something simple like a loose body removal. The reason I think that it could be that is the symptoms line up with it and I actually had an mri done 5 years ago and my ortho told me that I had a loose body. It wasn’t causing me any symptoms so I just ignored.

How long could I expect to be out of work with something like this? My job is very physical, but I’ve read some people return very quickly to work. It could be that they’re in desk jobs or something though…

Ortho diagnosed me with a meniscus tear without an mri

I went in for my appointment today and I explained to the doctor how my medial knee feels like it always wants to give out. I only get pain sometimes. He did a few tests on me like pushing on the meniscus area and it did hurt. This was enough for him to diagnose me with a meniscus tear. Has anyone else experienced this? Was anyone else diagnosed by touch and then the MRI proved it to be true? I’m scheduling an mri but I’m so nervous about having to put my life on hold in case I need surgery.

Knee feels like it wants to give out

Has anyone else experienced this? I have this weird tight feeling on my medial knee that feels like it’s going to give out. It hasn’t yet, but it feels so unsteady. The lateral side feels unsteady as well but it’s not as bad. There’s minimal pain and maybe a little bit of swelling. I’ve had knee issues for years but this just started from one day to the next. Has anyone experienced something like this? What did it end up being?

Has anyone here had loose bodies in the knee?

What kind of symptoms did you experience? I suspect that I have one in my knee right now. I had one removed about 10 years ago but that was on the opposite side of where I feel the current one. It’s not super painful but my inner knee feels really unstable and like it wants to give out. I can’t really feel anything moving around either. It feels really unstable and like it’s ready to give out at any moment but then out of nowhere I’ll feel ok and won’t feel anything. My range of motion is normal and there’s very little swelling.

I can’t get the ribs to come down with the 90 90 exercise - only when I’m on certain surfaces

So I’ve been working on the 90 90 exercise for a while now and even after months I can’t get the ribs to draw down and stack over my pelvis. idk if my positioning is incorrect, but they don’t move at all. The weird thing is that I can get them to come down when I lay on my couch or another softer surface that isn’t the yoga mat on the floor. Granted, I don’t put my legs up into the 90 90 position on the couch but I don’t understand why I‘m actually able to get them down in this position.
