Best treat pouch

I caved and wanted a thigh treat pouch, but went down the rabbit hole and just bought a motorcycle thigh bag!

Legit now within reach while I'm training I can grab: my phone, treats, A WHOLE CLEANUP KIT (clorox wipes and paper towels- may I hope to never need them), an extra leash... etc.

Didn't want to spend the $50 I've seen the thigh treat bags offered at so I spent less than 20 on Amazon for a motorcycle thigh bag. It is so much easier having my prospect and not having to whip out a backpack to function especially bc I have back pain.

Just wanted to share a recommendation. Pic of the one I bought in comments.

And side note, bringing a cleanup kit is sooo important when training. Even though your pup should be using the potty before going in, accidents happen. And if everything you need to clean is within reach, you don't have to bother anyone else and are less likely to cause a scene or access issues!

First conformation class

Going to my first conformation handling class tonight with my 11 week old puppy. Kind of a suprise since I started looking for classes today and the teacher said "come on down to today's class."

I have:

-my puppy

-pepperoni or liver for bait

-a slip collar that is a little bit too long but he will grow into it

-a show lead for the slip collar

-hopes and prayers

What else do I need to bring? Any advice for a newbie? I've been in the ring twice before on a friend's dog but I didn't know what I was doing.... so I'll say I'm a totally newbie who at least knows which arm to wear the number on... *its left???*

Update: not to brag, but he did wonderful (for a little guy). After initially being frightened he recovered quickly and was able to play with his ducky and have fun. Then he let EVERYONE touch him all over while he ate good treats. For his age he exceeded my expectations and I am so proud. We got to watch the big dogs and not be scared when one of them woofed! I am so excited for our journey

A vet based vent

I went to the vet with my 11week old puppy today. Saw a new vet at the same practice. My last vet said he was against raw food because of the bacteria risk.

So I go to the vet. This week I've spent HOURS making a spreadsheet to figure out the nutritional content of what I want to feed and hours alone just trying to see how to balance the calcium to phosphorus ratio (thank you to those on the forum who have helped, I finally got it right).

I'm expecting pushback, so I brought my spreadsheet because I generally want to talk about what I'm doing. She asks what I'm feeding, I say "I've been doing my research on homemade." And she immediately hits me with "YOU DONT HAVE TIME FOR HOMEMADE." And just kept repeating that when I tried to talk.

I'm in my 20s. I have no friends. I have no children. I have 2 dogs. Thats it. They are all I spend my time doing; training them, grooming them, loving them, and now meal planning for them. I am so frustrated because I just wanted to have a convo. But now I want to go raw even more because she didn't give me a reason not to.

Feeling sad today reddit, can you cheer me up.

Trying again to make a balanced diet!

Would anyone like to review my diet for my 11 week old Flat Coated retriever puppy! I go to the vet on Thursday and want to bring a proper meal plan to talk with the vet. I think I am finally close to having it down to a science, but ALLL feedback is welcome.

Also, I like the idea of using math to feed. I know its "not what they eat in the wild" but I'm a control freak and I really want to make sure my puppy is getting proper nutrition.

The bone percentage seems high, but that is because I am calculating using the whole bakc or whole food. They are high to hit my Ca:P ratio.

Any advice on my meal plan?

This is for a 3month old flat coated retriever puppy. He currently weighs 20lbs and I will be feeding him 7% of his body weight as he grows. The meal plan is PER LB as that is how I will measure it. I plan to put all ingredients through a meat grinder except for the non-grindable things, in order to make sure it is thoroughly mixed.

Muscle Meat (75%)

Beef heart: 16%

Ground beef: 11%

Beef chuck: 11%

Chicken breast: 11%

Ground green tripe: 11%

Whole sardines: 3%

Mussels: 2%

Organs (12%)

Beef liver: 6%

Beef kidney: 6%

Vegetables (5%)

Spinach: 3%

Pumpkin: 2%

Fruit (2%)

Blueberries: 2%

Supplements

Fish oil with vitamin E (Fera Pets)

Kelp powder

Eggshell powder for calcium (currently using approximately 1/2 tsp per pound of food)

Any and all feedback is appreciated. I'm trying to get this sorted before I see my vet this month so I can bring her my meal plan and get her advice.
