What metrics are actually useful to monitor?

I'm trying to balance getting stronger while improving my running without overdoing it. Striving to gym 3-4 times/week (ULUL) and run 2-3 times/week.

Beyond the obvious (body weight, lifts, PRs, running pace), what do you actually track?

Surprised by my heat map, what would you focus on next?

30m, currently doing an ULUL routine. Main goal is muscle growth / a better physique.

Pretty surprised to see my heat map, didn't realise it was so imbalanced. Just based on this, any obvious underdeveloped muscle groups or movement patterns I should focus on? Ideally looking to put more muscle mass on my arms and upper body

Prototype 1 didn’t make the cut

First cold plunge prototype is done after a slow 6 months of waiting for the tub to be developed.

I love how the design turned out, but after seeing it in reality I wouldn’t feel comfortable selling it to customers, mainly due to the poor finish and warping concerns. Turns out it is easier to rotomold curved surfaces than flat surfaces.

Moving to a simpler barrel-based design for Prototype 2 which was initially reluctant for since I prefer a more box-style design (easier to fit neatly in corners / place in a room ), however starting to understand why so many systems use it.

What would you prioritise if you were building one? Something that fits neatly into a space, or something more durable with fewer failure points?

Day 1 of trying to get users for my fitness tracker app

I’ve been building a fitness app called Momentum.

It started as a workout tracker because I wasn’t happy with the UI of existing apps. It began as a hobby project and something I wanted for myself, so I didn’t do much market research at the start.

After building for a while, I realised the space is extremely saturated with established gym apps. At the same time, I noticed my own biggest issue in the gym wasn’t tracking workouts, it was consistency. I would start strong but struggle to stay consistent over time.

That led me to pivot Momentum into something more social: accountability through friends, challenges, and friendly competition.

Instead of just logging workouts, the focus is now on helping people actually stay consistent by adding social motivation on top of training.

Still early, but I’ve released it on iOS and Android, and I’m now learning what it actually takes to get people using something like this beyond just building it.

Lots of learnings still to come!
