Is the Dimensity 9500s worth getting over last gen chips?
I’d say yes for most people, especially if you are upgrading from a phone that’s 2 - 3 years old. Modern chipsets are not just about raw speed anymore. Things like heating, battery life, gaming stability, camera processing, and overall smoothness matter more in daily use, and the 9500s seems well balanced in those areas.
What I like is that it does not feel like Mediatek is only chasing benchmark numbers this time. The focus seems more on real-world performance and efficiency, which honestly matters more for long-term usage.
At the same time, I would not say older flagship chipsets suddenly became bad. If someone already has a recent top-end Dimensity or Snapdragon phone, the upgrade may not feel massive.
But for anyone buying a new phone in 2026, the Dimensity 9500s genuinely looks like a strong and sensible option over many last generation chipsets.
