TradingView script: Which SMA is this ticker surfing?

TradingView script: Which SMA is this ticker surfing?

Hi. While coding for qscanner I wanted to create an indicator which looks at a ticker and tries to find which SMA the ticker is currently surfing. It tries to look for at least 40 bars which indicate a pattern. This can be really useful for timing pullbacks.

I made a TradingView version of it and made it public.

Try it out. It's surprisingly good for stocks with high RS, and it gives a pretty good guess at which SMA the ticker is surfing, even early (see pics, in the second one I used the Replay feature to see how it behaves early in the pattern.) Both result guess this stock likes to surf SMA15.

Obviously, the lower the SMA the stronger the ticker is.

I hope it helps someone. And if anyone has any feedback I'd be happy to improve it.

Just a few strong ones to watch.

Also added a scan for unusually large volume followed by a strong move upwards.

But again, the market is fucked, so.

Last Post, love you guys.

I'll be posting these in my own profile going forward, as well as any update on the scanner. It's been fun <3

I will be posting a lot less going forward. Thanks for those who gave feedback about the scanner, I'll contact you separately.

Fast Trade Execution - Please help.

Sorry for yet another post. But this is something I need someone to help me with.

I'm constantly frustrated that I can't execute trades fast enough. For context:

I use IBKR as a broker, and I use TradingView for executing the trades. Why? Because my trades are simple yet no interface gives me what I want:

  • Buy Stop Limit 1 tick above the high of the current day.
  • Sell Stop at the low of the day.
  • Number of shares is determined by the RISK of hitting the stop loss being no more than X, where X is say 0.5% of my account.

The only platform I know of now that let's you specify the risk in USD and calculates the number of shares for you is TV. But it is a PAIN to go through: First of all, it is extremely unresponsive when the trading session starts. 3-4 seconds to bring up the trading panel. I have to :

  • Click on the chart and choose "stop limit buy"
  • enable stop loss
  • drag stop loss
  • specify the number of shares based on risk (this is where I put the X)
  • change that back to Shares
  • I get a fractional number of shares which I have to remove the fraction because IBKR rejects the order

By the time I did this, the ticker already climbed above my stop limit buy, so I scramble to change that again.

It's painful because I only catch the break out half way, this happened 3 times so far in these 2 weeks. I'm pissed.

SURELY there is a better way? For fast trades where some calculation is needed for the number of shares vs the stop loss, what are people using?

I thought of creating my own dashboard and making it talk to ib gateway or ibkr tws but that is another pain in the butt.

Please help a brother out.

I'm spamming at this point

Added the number of "rejections" for each slider, hope that helps. People who want tighter ranges and other filters should be able to navigate around.

Sorry I'm late.

I would still be careful. Market is a lil wonky.

It seems overall the market isn't in favor of breakouts

Maybe just the A+ setups but overall I don't think today would be bullish either.

Hello, it is me again.

I threw in "leaders" and "emerging" lists just for kicks.

For Today

Just posting my scan results. Do with them what you wish.

If you feel I'm spamming, let me know.

Anyone caught these?

I caught NVTS one third of the way through.

I wish I knew what caused these movements up, no news stories that I can find.
