Vet says pyr mix is probably not getting any bigger.

Fable is 6 months, 33 lbs. Paper towels for scale lol.

Today we tried a new vet because we had issues with the previous vet. At first the vet didn’t believe she was a pyr mix but I told him about her DNA test showing mostly pyr and then German shepherd and cattle dog. I told him I planned on getting her spayed after her first heat to protect her joints and he said that would be a bigger concern if she were a larger dog, but a “pipsqueak” like her can be spayed at any time now. I said I was going to take her to a local spay/neuter clinic and he advised I tell them she’s a cattle dog mix so they don’t expect a huge dog. lol she’s about 40% pyr, 20% GSD, and 20% cattle dog but those short stack genes must be strong!

Out of curiosity, those who have pyr mixes, how big do your dogs get? How big were they at 6 months? And to be clear, I’m happy with her getting huge or staying this small forever. She’s the best dog I could ask for 🥹

Fable’s first canoe ride!

She was scared at first but relaxed and became interested in the birds and the sounds of bullfrogs in the distance! Did you take your pups on any adventures this weekend? I’d love to see pics!

Heatwave stuff

Hot week in Wisconsin so we’ve been playing outside with the garden hose to keep cool 😎 Fable is so satisfied with herself after she murdered that stream of water! It put up a good fight 😂

Leash advice

My puppy (pyr, GSD, cattle dog mix) turns to stone when she has a leash on. Even just in the backyard. I try to entice her with her favorite treats but she completely ignores the presence of food when she doesn’t want to do something. She seems freaked out/scared on a leash. She acts this way whether she is leashed on a collar or a harness, and whether the leash is clipped to the chest or back of harness. I want to do some leash training and build her up to enjoy walking and exploring. But I also don’t want to overwhelm her and make her more averse to the whole thing. Any tips to overcome the fear and get her walking?

Found out she likes the hose!

Today was the first day my puppy has enjoyed having a yard! I try to give her lots of outside time but she’s been too afraid to hang out in the yard, just does her business and then sits by the door waiting to go inside again. Today she ran circles around the yard, played fetch, was friendly to the dog next door, and we found out she gets excited by the garden hose!

Her ear sticks up when excited

My 4 month old, Fable. She’s a mix, mostly pyr. Whenever she gets the zoomies or has a good play sesh, one of her ears pops up! Occasionally, both ears have done it. Maybe it’s her GSD or cattle dog side? Anyone else have a mix whose other sides come out randomly?

🔥 Hot ▲ 10.6k r/adventuretime

My partner and I are in our mid 30s with a teen. The whole household loves adventure time. So when we started looking to buy a house, I immediately asked if they’d be onboard with my vision to go all out with a fun time room inspired kitchen! Although all of us were a little uncertain about the yellow. It turned out great! I thrifted some cute functional kitchen pens that I thought world go well (like the vintage Tupperware canisters and the bee salt pinch bowl). I painted Prismo myself and my partner was the MVP doing the lions share of the work on the cabinets!

▲ 12 r/Akbash

This girl is coming home this weekend! Adopting her from her foster mum who told me she is part of a large litter (or maybe there were 2 litters) of what she believes to be Great Pyrenees (or mixes). The situation is there were a bunch of puppies found under a porch. They say they saw 2 malnourished great pyr momma dogs and 11 puppies. The dogs were all placed in foster and now my puppy is coming home to me! She says some of the puppies had rougher coats and some had silkier coats. Mine has the silkier coat. She’s getting bigger everyday and as she ages I’m wondering if she could actually be akbash? Foster mum took her to the vet has estimated her to currently be 11 or 12 weeks old. This pic was taken yesterday.
