I just got a 000-15M need advice on if a 000-28 would be a better fit?
I just got a brand new 2022 000-15M from guitar center. I played it for a while in the store and really liked it but this was all without a pick and for only around 20 minutes.
I’ve played it for a few hours now and I have a few small very nit-picky complaints.
The high E string is so close to the edge of the neck it often goes off the edge if I press slightly wrong. I believe this could have to do with the narrower nut width.
Maybe I am just imagining this but since the strings are slightly closer together I have to be so much more precise with my finger placement. I feel like this is also a good thing in a way and develops good habits but has been a bit of an adjustment.
When I am strumming chords it sounds more muddy than I originally remember. I am not hearing much of the high end really stand out. It still sounds great but compared to my previous guitar (a cheap Yamaha FG800), the high notes don’t have a nice bright tone to them.
I am only listing the downsides I have found. There are also a lot of upsides as to why I really like the guitar. But my main question is, would I be getting what I want with the 000-28? I am thinking the spruce top could produce a brighter sound on the high notes and I’ll also get the wider nut width. Any advice is appreciated. Unfortunately no 000-28’s anywhere near me to try so I would be purchasing likely off Reverb.
I have 45 days to return the 000-15M. For now I am going to keep playing it and see if my complaints change over more hours of playing or only grow stronger. 000-28 owners please give me some wisdom. Money isn’t an issue here, I want to buy 1 amazing guitar for life.
