My very first lattice pie! Gosh, I baked it for 2.5 hours before I gave up on seeing bubbles in the very middle. Hopefully, the filling sets correctly overnight.
There is some...flavor development on the crust despite tenting the pie, but oh well! Hoping it's tasty when I cut into it tomorrow!
8 hours after I started this insane project, I was exhausted and said, "What a pain in the ass. I'm never making these again." Then I ate one. 😭 WTF, why are these so good? I hate myself, but I'll have to make them again.
My husband said they need some small tweaks, but these could be one of the best things I ever made. He rated my first attempt as 9.5/10.
The tayberries make them look like baby vomit, but they sure are tasty.
I wanted to do something savory, so I made the pillowy flat bread and topped it with a garlic herb mix I was gifted. Holy buckets, it's so good! I inhaled my first piece, and I had to stop before I made myself sick.
