I was there.
“The East Fire of 2003 went down in history as one of the largest multi-agency wildfire battles ever fought… and you were part of it. Wow… that needs to be documented.”
Why?
Because it wasn’t just an American story.
The Aussies and Kiwis came. Australia and New Zealand sent Incident Management Teams (IMTs) and specialized crew supervisors.
The Canadians crossed the border too. Sustained-action crews were deployed throughout the northern Rockies that season, standing shoulder to shoulder with firefighters from across North America.
But not every story made it into the official reports….like The DDX guest ranch on the south-fork rd in Cody Wyoming
Some stories… were never told…like how it all happened…lol, just saying.
That August of 2003 was twenty-three years ago.
Maybe it’s finally time those stories were heard. The stories of the brave men and women who answered the call, stood the line, and faced the flames together…I’m hoping to tell them…with your help of course.
