Staghorn Kidney Stone

I have/had a large staghorn kidney stone (over 5cm doctor said the size of a small egg). I had a painful PCNL surgery a month ago that removed the majority of the stone, but 2 smaller stones were left after the surgery that were located in the folds of the kidney. Today I had Ureteroscopy & Laser Lithotripsy to remove the smaller pieces left behind. Unfortunately they could only get 1 of the remaining stones. The doctor said that one piece is on the larger side and stuck deep down in a fold of the kidney also it’s too big to pass. The doctor recommended that we just keep an eye and come back for a scan in a couple months. He said that it could continue to cause infections, but for now to just leave it/watch it. Has anyone else encountered this issue? Should I get a 2nd opinion?
