Passed in Mitcham today

4 Driving faults - one for initially forgetting the handbrake off for the reverse manoeuvre, one for forgetting to cancel the signal, one for crawling out at a junction and taking too long to clear. Can’t remember the fourth one cause got too excited. Going in, I thought it was 50/50 whether I would pass or not, but I had a banana and clearly this worked for me.

Got very lucky with the examiner, he was calm and friendly and put me at ease. He wanted to do an emergency stop, but two cars appeared out of nowhere, so at first, we didn’t do it. I then said something like ‘ah sad, I was looking forward to it as I find it quite cathartic’. When we were nearly back at the test centre, he asked me if I wanted to try a different location so we could do it. I first said no, but then he asked again and I thought alright, let’s do it. I knew I was creating more opportunity for failure but I felt confident in that moment so we went for it. I think he partly thought I was crazy and party impressed.

What really helped me in the final 24 hours before the test: practice answering show me tell me questions with ChatGPT (just asked it to keep repeatedly asking me 1 question at a time till I drilled them all), full nights sleep, easy morning getting ready with some happy tunes. Put the hair in the ponytail and wore dangly earrings so they make a noise when I turn to look in the mirrors. Had 1 hour of driving around the test routes and 30 min break before the test. Thanks to this sub, I’ve lurked here many a months and learnt so much from y’all!
