How do I replace an old af head unit

I'm really terrible with cars, wondering if anybody has any experience replacing an old stereo head unit. I have a 98 Toyota starlet and as far as I know it's still got the same one that it came with.

I've read different things about how to go about it, I wanted to ask for opinions before I do anything too stupid haha.
