Company denies using AI but it looks like AI
i recently stopped into a local candle shop, and although their candles smelled incredible, i couldnt help but notice a lot of the artwork looks AI generated. the last picture is from one of their instagram posts, which received comments accusing them of using AI, which they vehemently denied. in their comment they spoke about valuing the work of real artists (although the only artist i’ve seen them publicly credit is one of the shop owners, who they said made the jimothy artwork). they also are very vocal supporters of conservation efforts and donate to a lot of environmentalist orgs, which feels, antithetical? it would be pretty wild to make public claims against AI and still be using AI, i like to believe people wouldn’t tell bold-faced lies, but you never know these days. am i just ai-paranoid and seeing ai where it’s not?
