New to vegetable gardening

Hi I’m just wondering what would be the best fruit/veg to start planting come September/ October in my veg patch for winter season? I have done fairly well through the summer as a novice and managed to grow strawberries, toms, onions.
I have some broccoli, cabbage and chantenay carrots still trying to grow but struggling because i planted in entirely the wrong time of year so don’t want a repeat and seeking advice.

I have a small vegetable patch area and am in the Midlands Uk. Garden gets decent sunlight throughout the day and is NE facing.

TIA x

Have I failed before I’ve even started!?

Novice gardener here, managed to grow a few things successfully last year in my planter so thought I would step it up a notch this year but I fear i’ve overdone it with the seeds. (My toddler helped and sort of just threw them down 🤣) I seem to have lots of seedlings popping up which is great but now I’m concerned there won’t be nearly enough space for the veg to grow properly. Is there anything I can do? Picture is from first planting. I now have seedlings all along and will drop an updated photo in the comments. Any help on this one would be great!
