Need advice/questions to ask GI

F46, I am having my first colonoscopy soon and had some bloodwork done beforehand. GI also ordered an ultrasound because of some gas and gas pain I've been having. My BMI is 25.4 and I eat a relatively healthy diet (not much red meat, lots of veggies, hardly any added sugar) and exercise pretty regularly. I do drink but not more than 3-4 drinks per week.

I was alarmed when I got my bloodwork back and my liver enzymes were a bit elevated (AST 44, ALT 50). I sent a message to my doctor's online portal and was told that lots of things could cause those numbers to be elevated and there wasn't much concern. Fast forward to last week, I had the ultrasound and got that report through the patient portal (still no contact from my GI doc).

This is what it says:

"The liver is diffusely increased in echogenicity. No focal lesions. Impression: Hepatic steatosis"

So, I'm assuming I have fatty liver disease and I want to know what questions to ask when I meet with the doctor (a week after my colonoscopy in a few weeks). Are there more tests that I should expect to happen to confirm the diagnosis? Also, I take an oral birth control as a form of HRT and now I'm worried that could be damaging my liver as well. Should I discontinue use of that? Any advice is appreciated.
