Advice about extension of skilled worker visa on route to ILR
I am currently on a 4 year skilled worker visa which started in February 2023 and will end in February 2027 (4 Years). I will be applying for another CoS for a skilled worker visa from my employer. My question is whether I should ask for only 1 year or 14 months from my employer. I understand the visa fees is same for up to 3 years but I don’t want to pay the healthcare surcharge unnecessarily if I am going to apply for ILR as soon as I am eligible. Does anyone have experience about this? Am I even allowed to ask my employer for only 1 year or 14 months CoS? Would they grant it? I will be here atleast for the next few years so I know they will sponsor.
I am concerned about the cost of IHS as I also have 2 dependents.
