First Boat, and First Boston Whaler

First Boat, and First Boston Whaler

2002 Dauntless 16. Old Mercury 90 on it right now, but through sheer great luck it might be getting a brand new 115 Pro XS in a matter of weeks. Cant wait to get out on the water and learn what this whole boating thing is all about

How old is too old for an outboard?

Hi r/boating!! I grew up on the water, but have never owned my own boat before. I’ve been shopping for months, and have been working on buying an estate sale twin engined whaler. The vessel has Mercury 150 horsepower 2 stroke saltwaters on it. They have not been used in the water since 2017, and I’m told the owner who passed had maintained them up to 2021. Naturally it’s been a bit since then, however both motors only have 270 hours on the clock and they do crank

Do you reckon that’s too much of a red flag? Or do you think that, for the right price, it may be a worthwhile pursuit?

Anyone else really missing the Crown Vic?

It’s been 12 hours, and I still feel an empty hole in my life where those glorious 7 cylinders rumbled away into the sunset. Gone but absolutely, unequivocally not forgotten…
