A Reminder About Modesty Comments, "Keep Looking" Responses, and Saying No to Someone's Yes-to-the-Dress Moment
Just a friendly reminder about a few rules we find ourselves enforcing pretty regularly.
Please avoid comments comparing dresses to lingerie or making judgments about modesty, coverage, or whether it's "appropriate." Not every dress will be your personal style, and that's okay. If the OP isn't specifically asking about lining, alterations, or coverage, those comments aren't needed.
If someone has narrowed it down to a few dresses and is asking which one works best, do not make comment like “keep looking,” “neither,” or similar.
And finally, if someone is showing off the dress they've already chosen, they're sharing an exciting moment with the community. Those posts are for celebrating, not critiquing. Please don't second guess their choice or tell them they'll regret it. A little kindness goes a long way.
Thank you
Suggestion: Allow Mods to Mark Posts as “Not Reportable” for Subreddit Rule Violations
We already have an “ignore reports” option after they happen, but an option specifically for posts that moderators have already reviewed and approved would be helpful.
For example, a moderator could apply a distinction that prevents users from submitting subreddit-rule reports on that post. If someone clicks “Breaks r/subreddit rules,” they’d instead see a message like:
“Moderators have already reviewed this post and determined it does not violate subreddit rules.”
I think this could significantly reduce report abuse and queue clutter in active communities while also giving users clearer feedback that the post was intentionally approved by the mod team.
Edit to add: this would obviously only be feasible for photo and video posts unless there were parameters in place that disallows editing after something has been deemed unreportable.
Lingerie-inspired wedding dresses are an extremely popular trend right now. If a dress has lace, boning, corset details, sheer elements, or a fitted silhouette, that does not make it appropriate to flood the comments with “this looks like lingerie.”
We all know what lingerie looks like. Your comment pointing it out is not adding anything helpful to the discussion.
If OP didn’t like that style, she probably wouldn’t be trying on dresses that fit the trend in the first place.
If the style isn’t for you, just move on.
Hey Everyone! We’re currently looking for one or two people to join our mod team!
We need help checking the mod queue, monitoring high traffic posts, and helping enforce rules. Our biggest challenges right now are rule breaking posts and keeping comment sections respectful. It’s manageable, but an extra pair of eyes on things will make the sub run more smoothly.
There are currently two mods and we’re both pretty chill, so we’d really like to keep that same vibe.
If you’re interested, please send a modmail or DM and include your time zone, how often you’re able to help, and any prior mod experience you have (experience not necessary).
Thank you!
Hey everyone 👋
Just a friendly reminder… not every post is going to be brand new to every single person here. With such a large community, some members may have seen an image before while others are seeing it for the first time.
Comments like “repost,” “seen this yesterday,” or similar callouts don’t really add much to the discussion and tend to derail the fun. If reposts bother you, please just scroll by and let others enjoy it if it’s new to them, or if it REALLY bothers you, you can report it and we’ll take a look at it.
