Considering a return to Modern - haven't played since before covid - what should I play?

Sold out of Modern during Covid. Been playing EDH and Arena since then (standard, pioneer, draft), so its not like I've had my head under a rock, just haven't really wanted to get back into competitive paper magic.

I finally got the itch to play in paper again. My favorite format on arena (pioneer) is unfortunately dead in paper. Standard sucks. Legacy and premodern aren't proxy friendly in my area. Tried pauper, lots of fun, but its only one night a week at my shop, and sometimes its just fun to do higher power stuff. So, I came crawling back lol.

I recognize that like I gotta just play stuff to really see what I like, so I guess I'm mostly asking what deck should I play first such that:

  • i will actually learn the format

  • i won't get bored to tears by repetitive decision making

  • i probably won't get rug pulled in the forseeable future

I'm open to a wide range of gameplay, but if you really need a starting point: in pioneer I mainly play Cat Food and various other BX midrange piles.

I know what features I want to buy, but I find the Keychron website completely incomprehensible and overwhelming

I'm looking for a wireless Keyboard that can be wired as a fallback (lots of jank linux machines at work), 75% or 80%, hotswappable, quietest switches available, foam layers. Back lightning preferred but not required.

Sorry in advance if this is an annoying post, the website has just driven me slightly insane. Their menus look slick, but I just want to check some boxes in a filter, man. There's too many random models with slightly different specs and very similar names.
