Please share your thoughts. Just finished reading and found it very compelling. Moments of peak Le Carre’ prose, hurtling through the Cold War. I’m sure recency bias is there, but I’d place it near the top of the stack.

As I’ve moved through his catalogue, I’m confronted by both the variety and similarities between the non-Smiley books. Would welcome thoughts, rankings, likes and not. Particularly interested in mid-late career takes. Loved A Perfect Spy, Small Town in Germany, The Little Drummer Girl and The Russia House. Thoughts on less-noted and/or newer tales?
How did we like it? I found it quite compelling, particularly Hector and Luke. The settings were well done, the children, Gail and the Professor a bit wooden at times. Dima looked far different in my mind than Stellan Skarsgard, so now that I’ve wrapped I’ll have to revisit the film and see how it lines up.
Others have criticized the ending but it worked well for me.
What are your thoughts? I found it kept up the pace very well throughout and really stuck the landing.
